Answering a few questions about what we do?
July 29, 2012This past week we visited Pineland, a beautiful area of barns, walking trails and animals for an afternoon of sun and exercise. We also went to Shaw Park in Gorham, watched several kids jump off the 35 foot train trestle into the river, played kick ball and took a walk, then on Thursday we visited Smiling Hill Animal farm visiting all the animals and walking around feeding the ducks and chasing Clover the independent sheep around the farm. On Friday we had a game morning, then grocery shopped for a spaghetti dinner which we had for lunch then had a movie afternoon. And of course, we squeeze in as much artwork as we can during the week , check out the individual student's pages to see some of their recent work.
I think it is important to remember that this summer is bringing together a new group of friends, we are learning how to be together, what everyone's interests are and trying to get outside as much as possible to enjoy this good weather while we can. When fall rolls around we will be getting down more to the business of what it takes to work towards independence. We will be working on a variety of skills that include getting out into the community and understanding what it takes to be a strong, young adult.
That being said, if you have any ideas, suggestions or thoughts surrounding any interesting things for us to do this summer please feel free to share. Thanks and have a great weekend. Kristine and Rory
