Current Events

On Monday, we went on a field trip, clip boards in hand, to see what things really cost.  We had a list of items we needed to start our kitchens and we gathered prices based on the cheapest item in each category but we also had a line for the item that we really wanted.  sometimes the cheapest and the item we wanted matched up but sometimes there was a huge price difference.  We are still learning about wants versus needs and as always about making choices.

This week we did a great job with everyone working very hard to get a lot of good work accomplished.

Today, Friday, the participants made pizzas with Bill in the afternoon while Rory and Kristine attended CPR training. Then in the afternoon we watched Percy Jackson, the Lightening Thief which is a book we have been reading in our afternoon reading time.  This is a great book that has a lot of Greek mythology in it, so while being entertained we are also learning some new, cool things.

 Wednesday we visited Elizabeth and Jack in their Cape Elizabeth home to create hand made Valentine's Day cards.  Elizabeth loves Valentine's Day and every year along with dozens of volunteers she creates beautiful hand made cards to be delivered to children and adults all over who are in need of some extra love.  We had a really great time and everyone made one card to take home and one to share with others.  Thank you very much Elizabeth and Jack - you were wonderful to share your time with...
